Core Values
National Leadership.
Nationals are "God-made" to extend His Kingdom in their home countries - they know the language, culture and physical environment. Furthermore, nationals are the ones who will ultimately remain in their homelands. When non-Asians come to serve with GCI ministries, they sometimes have to fulfill the role of "scaffolding" - an important part of the construction process. Once construction has been completed, the scaffolding is removed and set up elsewhere for another building. Our long-term goal is always to train and launch national leaders.
Indigenous Programs.
In Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore, Asia has three of the world's most technologically advanced cities. From Bangladesh to Cambodia to rural China, Asia also has three of the world's poorest regions. And who can forget that this vast continent was the birth place of Buddhism, Hinduism and Islam. Socially, culturally, politically and spiritually, Asia is diverse. Because of this diversity, Asian Outreach seeks to establish ministry programs that spring from local needs and can be run by the locals.
Local Support.
Churches worldwide help to support the evangelization of Asia, and the Asian Church also has the opportunity to participate in this grace of giving and sharing. Thus Asian Outreach, in fulfilling its vision and mission, encourages the flow of finances and personnel from within the continent as much as possible.
Kingdom Network.
The relationship of GCI with the church is mutually supportive. In working side by side with local churches, and other mission agencies, we aim to complement what they do by offering our ministries and specific skills to serve them in the best way we can. And we rely on prayer, fellowship, personnel and financial support from them. Partnership is a most important ingredient in all of our work.
Total Accountability.
GCI strive to promote accountability to God, to the church, to the people we serve, and to one another as co-workers in Christ. This means, in our practices and programs, we express:
- An upward accountability to God: For His calling and gifting, as well as for His demand that we be faithful stewards.
- A sideward accountability to our constituency: That we would exercise prayerful and careful stewardship of their support and partnership.
- A sideward accountability to our target audience: That our ministry is genuinely meeting both the felt and real needs of the people.
- An inward accountability to our team: We are accountable for the overall development and fulfillment of the people who serve with us.
Statement of Faith
GCI is a non-profit, evangelical, interdenominational body that believes in:
- the Holy Bible, which is the fully and uniquely inspired Word of God, the only infallible, sufficient and authoritative rule of faith and practice;
- one God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit;
- the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His vicarious death and atonement through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension, His mediatory intercession and His personal return in power and glory. He is the only Savior of mankind;
- the salvation of lost and sinful men through regeneration by the Holy Spirit; salvation is by grace through faith;
- the indwelling of the believer by the Holy Spirit, enabling the Christian to live a godly life and to serve the Lord in the power of the Spirit;
- the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved into the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation;
- the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, comprising the Body of Christ.
