LEADERSHIP TRAINING
Goals
To equip those who are ministering in rural churches to be better church ministers and leaders through GCI (Great
Commission Institute) training and the Mongolian Preaching School.
Bayankhongor GCI Training (January 2nd – 4th, 2009)
1) 28 students from 18 churches of Bayankhongor Province attended Level One GCI training in Bayankhongor township.
2) Using local pastors and church leaders to teach many of the subjects proved to very effective as they are aware of
the needs in their area and are able to address specific issues.
3) The students were willing to learn from their leaders and enthusiastically shared their testimonies and their lives.
Testimonies
During the three days of training, I learned many things. I found out what is the most important thing in my life, and realized that I have to be faithful to the Lord and put my heart, soul and mind into His hands. I need to stay on the straight and narrow path. God helped me to understand this. I now realized that everyone has only one Lord, and we all choose who our lord will be. I learned through the training how to serve God better, how to escape from sin, how to be in relationships with others, how to obey the Word, how to show His light to the world, and how to glorify Him through a transformed life.
I really enjoyed this training. God blessed me so much and healed me so much during these three days. I have been going to church for five years, but I came to realize that I am still weak in spiritual matters. I always looked at people instead of God and criticized and judged them. When God revealed this to me, I repented of it in front of the Lord. I realized that I have crucified the Lord again many times. As I start to implement the things I have learned in this training, I feel very encouraged. I have been to other training and conferences before, but this training touched me more. I really liked it.
Khovd GCI Training (September 15th – 20th 2009)
# Over 20 students from 13 churches of Khovd Province attended Level Two GCI training in Khovd Township.
# The trainers were amazed to see the increase in maturity in the church leaders from two years ago when training was
last held. The students from the previous GCI were called back to take part in Level II training. It was found that they
are now mature pastors and leaders with a vision to reach out to other areas. We were surprised at their activity in
spreading the Gospel and planting new churches.
Testimonies
One of those who attended was a young man called Turuu. At a GCI training five years ago he had been a new believer. At that training, the Lord set him free from alcoholism and he started to live totally for the Lord. Three years ago he moved to a new village and started a church there, which now numbers around 30 members. He has managed to build a church building in that town. He sacrificially gave the floor of his own ger (Mongolian round felt tent)to be the roof of the new church. When others saw his willingness to make sacrifices, they were encouraged to give likewise, and the town now has a fine church building.
The governor of the town has been pleased with Turuu’s contribution to the township, and has donated a small building to be converted into a bath-house. USD4000 was given to the project, enabling the shower-house to be built. Those who come to the shower-house find a place of peace and joy and have the opportunity to hear the Gospel message.
GCI has been a powerful tool in this young man’s life. Through its ministry God has completely changed this young man’s life, saving him from alcoholism and equipping him for ministry. It has given him a good foundation for both his personal life and his ministry.
